Over the last couple of weeks I have struggled to find a space in a couple of car parks, only to find what seems like half of the car park is for disabled (probably benfit cheats), and nearly all the fking spaces are empty, but we can't park in them!! Then when you do see someone park in them, they hop out of the car and bound away like a new born lamb, absolutely fk all wrong with them! Why are there so many, surely the amount they are putting in car parks now is disproportionate to the amount of people out there who genuinely need them.

A totally meaningless post but it really pisses me off when I can't find a space and half the car park is empty!

Its probably done in relation to the amount of 'Normal' spaces there are, they have to have a certain amount of disabled ones.

Annoying though! I never see anyone in them, and when they do.. They hop out as if their off to run the olymipics!

It's because so many non-disabled people park in disabled spaces because they are too lazy to walk any distance to the entrance, the disabled (blue badge) drivers complain that there are enough spaces so the supermarket makes more spaces. These are filled up by more lazy normal people and so it goes on. From 15 spaces to 55 spaces in the space of 12 months.

Try being able bodied and parking at Shrewsbury train station. There arent any spaces but there are at least 15 for disabled bods. Can't even officially drop someone off so have to shove them out of the car while its moving!

Its all to do with planning - when getting permission for our building, you have to restrict the number of parking places (maybe to encourage people to walk to work :-| ), we had a lot of 'turning circles' and disabled bays !!!!

I think the current regs require 1 disabled space per 20 regular spaces, no more than 45 metres from the building entrance, so the example of 400 space carpark with 36 disable spots is a bit over the mark.

Silly! That's not braille, that's "ribbing- for her pleasure" when you have a bit of jiggy in the lift.

Planning requirement for all new commercial build is that a certain % of spaces are disabled friendly.

Brilliant - is this what PH has become? Every complaint, criticism or observation of modern life is down to:

1) The Government
2) Gordon Brown
3) Political Correctness
4) Chav's

Is that the best you can come up with? Well, I am pleased that your family is not affected by disability and never have to use such parking places. I for one, am glad that there are disabled spaces. I do use them when I have the chance and it makes a world of difference. If this is PC nonsense then bring it on. Forcing the disabled to walk is madness.

There are too many 'cripples' in the country.

They will have 'ethnic minority' spaces available soon. I will be parking in these as a 'white person'.

I've seen braille on the buttons in a lift in an art gallery.
