Forces? I thought they were renamed a 'service'?
Why not cut out the traffic enforcement officers. That would do us all a favour.

Anyone still think the Olympics are a good idea?

I like the phrase in that article where it says, "Humberside Police has a five-year plan to replace 300 police officers with civilian staff.." This sounds horrendously like more automated camera systems or remote monitoring jockeyed by a jumped up security guard rather than a Police presence on the streets.

Get ready to arm yourselves, people. Judgement Day is coming...

They aren't going to take the jobs of those that want to stay. It's the people who want to join who won't be getting the jobs.

Phew I was beginning to worry!!

As far as getting rid of Traffic Cops, not a good idea at least you can have a sensible conversation with an 'actual' policeman. Where as you can't talk to a scumera van operator, even if you can get in to the Eagles Lair 'sorry mate nothing I can do!' is what you will be greeted with.

I rather think that there has already been a cut in TrafPol. And that's why the net result is far more stupidly dangerous driving on the roads these days, because people know there is little chance of getting caught.

We need more Frontline Plod, less managers, Gay and Lesbian awareness courses and less Police Press Officers etc..

So von, what's your opinion on cutting back on Police officers at a time when crime rates are likely to soar? Or does that not compute?
