Dual Sim phones
Discussion
So does anyone have a dual Sim phone?
I know you can get them here now, but wondered if there are any particulars pro's and cons to them. The thought of having a business and personal Sim on one handset would be a great help to me. Also are the phones up to the latest technology or more basic.

There are Dual SIM phones (just do a google search) and you can also use a Dual SIM adaptor, though this is not going to work with all phone.

Do a bit of research though, double check what works and what does not and if they provide the features you want. Personally, I had two phones a while ago but stopped doing it. I transferred numbers and I will take my mobile number with me in future. Therefore I just carry one and dont worry about anything else. I can see why, but for a few quid, just transfer numbers and be done with it.

You used to be able to get dual sim adaptors for older phones. They sat between the phone and the battery, making the phone slightly thicker than normal, taking the two sims and then a fake sim on a ribbon cable connecting it to the phone.
I never used one but I understand that on most you had to switch the phone off then on to switch between sims.
The other alternative is that for years Orange phones would support two phone numbers. It seems Orange are starting to phase this out as I don't think my latest Orange phone has this facility any more, but all my previous ones have including my venerable 6310i
It's only Orange that do it, and it has to be on contract, and obviously they'll charge for the second line. But it is a useful way of having business and personal numbers on one handset.

What would be really 'kewl' would be a phone which could take two SIMs, probably on the same network, but both 'ON' at the same time. So people can call you on business or private number at any time and you can dial out on either without having to reboot.
Orange do "Line 2", two separate numbers, on the same sim. I've had both numbers on the same handset for years...You can make them ring differently, and it tells you which line the call is coming in from. Switching between lines for outgoing calls is a single button press...I think Line 2 is about a fiver a month, with a bunch of free minutes.

i used to have one, and as said above, you boot phone to switch between the two.
In theory great. in practice, turd.
The phone would lock, and you wouldnt know which network it was on.
Better off with two phone if it is important you dont miss calls like!
Saying that, its a few years ago. technology might be better now.

I want one phone, one contact book, one system (where's the camera on that double-sided phone?).
Just want it to take and make calls and texts on two numbers.

It's surprisingly elegant in the flesh, works with both sim cards simultaneously, loud as f
k (if you want it to be), has an ok camera and colour screen.V8mate said:

Well, as at least two of us have said already, you want Orange's "Line 2"Just want it to take and make calls and texts on two numbers.
The quote above was to something different.
Separately, and frankly, I'd rather go back to writing letters than ever use Orange again.
