my Diary has just reminded me to SORN my car till next month, and then tax before April.

Does anyone know if the proposed retrospective tax increases are happening, or were they shelved as the country headed into bankruptcy?

My car is a 2003 with 339 G/km CO2. (more that the actuall weight of the fuel used to produce the gas, but that is not relevant to this argument).

They were put on hold until?? I didn't think they came in until this year so probably 12 months.

it seems a pretty complicated issue but i believe all cars over 225g/km registered after the 1st of March 2001 and before band G came in, in 2006 go into band K in which the increases arnt very big.

  • Band K includes cars that have a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006. These cars will stay in band K.
So we still have the silly situation of one car costing £405 and the other half(same car).
