Is it me or have there been lots of air crashes this year?
Discussion
As news breaks of the Plane crash in Holland I can't help thinking that there have been lots air crashes already this year and we're only 2 months in.
Two in New York, Mid Air collision over Wales, Helicopter in the sea last week, Passenger Plane in Brazil, Turkish airlines today and I'm sure there have been others I've forgotten.
I can't find a comprehensive list of all events, does anyone know of a source.
Has this year been any worse than usual and if yes what could be the reason for it?
Have the economic slowdown and fuel price issues caused more corners to be cut?
Thought please.

Buffallo Icing (probably) rare but happens, NYC Multiple bird strike (very rare) Madrid may be maintenance related, this latest is possibly a running out of fuel issue so perhaps some cost shaving is creeping in but until proper results are published it's probably statistically insignificant.

i'm going with coincidence. press simply pick up on them if a few happen in short succession.
There have been some odd coincidences recently. The plane crashes are all down to climate change, obviously.
