London Hotel Recommendations
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
Me and Mrs Garyhun are going for a London trip in early April to do Theatre, Covent Garden, Galleries etc. I want to stay in something luxurious but with cosy atmosphere, nice bar, comfy bedrooms etc . Happy to spend up to £200 per night (room rate) but obviously less for something great would be good!
Suggestions would be great from any of you with personal experience.
Thanks
Gary

We have always been pleased with the Athenaeum on Picadilly a converted gentlemans club with a really happy feel to it and great rooms. If you try Last minute.com look for secret hotels then keep eyes peeled for phrases like Renowned for good customer sevice that has usually been The Athenaeum for around £150 per night. We just take the chance.

Having stayed in a few, my favourite was the Millenium in Grosvenor Square.
Proper 'old style' luxury
Got absolutely bladdered on champers in the piano bar (with someone that looked & sounded like Joe Cocker playing it! but was too nervous to ask
)
'Course, you always have
the Dorchester
Langhams
The Landmark
Madarin Oriental
Baglioni (sp?)

Stayed there once for free (missus works in the industry) and even then it wasn't worth the money. Service was appalling.regards John

Have just booked here for £130 for 1 night, using LastMinute.com and the secret hotel deals. I found it was the Athenaeum byb copying and pasting the descriptive text from the write up into Google. They just used a direct copy of the websites write up! regards John

Stayed here too, got a deal via Expedia for £180 B&B and upgraded room, was a very smart hotel with some nice cars in the courtyard.http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/loncc-rena...

I've stayed here http://www.hotelsclick.com/indexc.php?country=Unit... twice. It's at the end of Carnaby Street next to the Palladium. A pretty central location
The Kemplinski hotels have wonderfull decor & this one is a converted magistrates court so is quite quirky (you have breakfast in the courtroom!)
