Are the BBC U2's new promoter?
Last night, they played a surprise gig on the roof of Bush House and today they are on Radio 1 and Jonothan Ross.
Nice work boys.

i was thinking that.
Who is paying who?

Are the BBC paying for exclusive access to U2, or are U2 paying them to keep pushing them

(ps i think their new song is pretty crap too, especially after all his guilt trip politics crap)

U2 haven't done anything good for many years IMHO. I don't really understand why they still get attention.

Although the Star Stories episode on "Saint" Bono was utterly hilarious.

They've also taken over the Culture Show this week too.

And they were not that good, but this is typical of having 2 mins setup time

IMO

It's advertising ... U2 should be paying the BBC for it so that our chuffing license fees can go down.

I know it's all promo and related to releases, but honestly, the BBC are so far up their back sides, it's untrue.

I went to see them during the last tour and thought they were outstanding. However, the latest releases are leaving me a bit cold so far.

Exactly.

So why are they all over our national broadcaster?
Does their manager have an "in" at the BBC ?
The Beeb keep calling them "the worlds biggest rock band". There must be other likely candidates.....
Stones(yes, still) Foo's, Chilli Peppers, ......any more?

The BBC have always sucked up to U2 for some reason.

As for the "surprise" rooftop broadcast the other day... hardly a huge surprise was it?
Chris Evans has been going on about "a special U2 treat" for a few weeks now. It was pretty obvious what they were going to do.

Especially given that they had done a "Live Lounge" earlier in the day on Jo Whiley's show.

Personally I stopped liking anything U2 did when I got bored of listening to The Joshua Tree and that was years ago. I don't think they have released anything decent since.

Very very over rated.

They were just on BBC with Jonathon Ross show as well.

Bono, wearing sunglasses indoors.
The Edge, sitting inside wearing a beenie-cap with a short sleeved shirt. He obviously isn't cold, else he would pop a jumper on.

Words cannot describe how much I hate U2!

Not a great offering this time around to my mind, but why is it so 'de rigueur' to hate U2, sure Bono can be a bit too much some times, but still if you asked the people on Regent St tonight they had a good time

Bono has funny eyes and the Edge is balding. The edge has worn a hat for a long time.

I don't hate them at all, I relly like most of their 80's stuff and a lot of the 90's tracks but do resent it when a group starts to churn out 'average' stuff and get away with it because of the die hard fans. The Rolling Stones, Paul Weller and Oasis are examples in my mind as too are Razorlight and the Kaiser Chiefs.

The worst band in the world famed by whoring themselves to the media under the guise of 'helping those less fortunate' taking advantage of free publicity?! Never!

Let's not forget Bono cares tremendously about starving people and trying to make other people give up their hard earned. That guy is amazing, using others misfortune to raise money and market his st band. What a guy. Maybe next time he forgets his lucky hat he can donate the first class fare to them rather than being ttty little drama queen.

Have not listened to Radio 1 or Radio 2 today because of the U2 love in.

Not all your listeners want to hear about U2 all day BBC.

But on "free whoring themselves" out they got a great deal of exposure.
