Had HSBC fraud team on, someone has cloned my card and spent £1,200 in Canada. Woohoo.
Credit card or debit card? They took £56 and £120 out of the cash point and spent just over £1,000 on electrical items.
He was quite a humorous chap, he noticed that I made a withdrawal in Manchester and 2 hours later I was in Canada... he wanted to find out if someone had cloned my card or if he could have in on the time travel machine I had designed.

I got hit in Canada on my Egg card. Couple of withdrawals but Egg pulled the plug before any big expenses were made.
Couple of years ago, someone else (I presume!) did the same and paid into some casino site. Not my kind of thing and just had to sign some papers to declare it wasn't me.
And then there was that IG Index money transfer... oh, wait, that really was me.
The bottom line is always use a credit card (not a debit card) cos then your account won't be missing money.

OH's card has been cloned and used this week as well. From looking at other forums there seems to be a spate of it at the moment, not sure if it's always at the same level? NatWest flagged it pretty swiftly and it appears caught someone who was carrying 20 cards which included hubby's.
OP...do you really think the word is "frauded"?

From what I understand, it's the magnetic strip that's the problem if it was skimmed. The chip is apparently very good. Why do they still have a magnetic strip? Apparently, many countries don't recognise the chip still. So, theoretically, if you never travel, you could remove the strip...
However, if a company has your CC details and the data goes missing (theft of computer, loss of computer or dodgy employee) then it doesn't matter. Money can still be spent.

No you haven't. The bank has. Never forget that, it's an important distinction when getting your money out of them.
Difference between a credit and debit card. Debit card, you have lost the money, and trust the bank will refund it. Credit card, the bank has lost the money....No you haven't. The bank has. Never forget that, it's an important distinction when getting your money out of them.
So yes, he has been 'frauded'
