Interesting article, certainly, although nothing that any sensible person couldn't work out for themselves if they thought about it.

Intelligent article. Actually looking at what is "green" and what is not and coming up with answers that aren't politically convenient.

On a related topic, did anyone see the new documentary series on Discovery titled something like "Saving the Planet"?

They take a bunch of engineers and scientists and look at "outside of the box" methods of combatting climate change.

An advert I saw showed them covering large areas in reflective material to mimic the reflectivity of the snow that's being lost at the polar ice caps, but the one I saw yesterday (had recorded it during the previous week) was about firing millions of tiny refractive lenses into a stationary orbit between the Earth and the Sun. The idea being to reduce the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth.

It had the usual annoying American series' traits, but was still very interesting viewing.

Problem is there's not that many sensible people involved in all this. The whole "green" issue has been hijacked and adopted by hysterical nutters and spun out of all proportion by politicians keen to win votes and raise a bit more tax.

I read recently that the greens are now admitting that manufacturing soft bog paper is worse for the environment than 4x4s, and nuclear power is the way to go FFS...rolleyes after all the fuss they've made in the past about atomic energy and larger cars.

I've noticed recently there's a trend beginning to emerge ridiculing the greens with scientific fact - long may it continue. We need a Richard Dawkins-of-the-environment type person to start spreading some facts and common sense.

To be fair, I'm not going to wipe my bottom with a Cayenne Turbo. Well, not while the owner's watching at least. hehe

A great study, shame it'll be of no interest to either the eco warriors or those in power, truth doesn't sell well unfortunately.

I've seen this & find it deeply worrying that they want to fk with the Sun/Earth balance in such a way.

Talk about taking it too far.

Absolutely. Do we really know enough to be sure that it's for the best.
