I'm not a huge watcher of television but like to catch the odd film or comedy series from time to time. What drives me insane are the continual breaks so that I can be "marketed at".
I either end up watching a completely different program and then giving up or I just pack it in immediately and read a book or something.
It drives me mad when yet another overly friendly, smarmy or excited voice tries to convince me I have a problem and then offers me a solution to it.
It detracts from the film to the point that I just don't want to watch anymore.
Therefore these things appear to be a waste of time and money. But since they exist and these people are not stupid this cannot be the case. So it must just be me.
How do television adverts make you react?

Unfortunately without them you either wouldn't get the programme made, or you would pay a helluva lot more for the channel subscription.I either end up watching a completely different program and then giving up or I just pack it in immediately and read a book or something.

Necessary evil I'm afraid!
Same here, I genuinely haven't watched an advert for perhaps over a year?!
Watch programs 15 mins after they've started and fast forward or, as is more often the case, I don't really watch live tv - just sit down, record a week's worth of programs and then watch a recorded show when I do sit down.
I expect it's a big problem for sales of adverts on commercial channels now. Before Sky+ and V+ it was just computer nerds that did it, but now it's mainstream it must affect revenue.
