I would like some sensible advice about short term accomodation in London.

I will be there for about five weeks, although different weeks during the summer.

I need to find a really good but really cheap hotel with either parking or so easy to get from the airport that I wouldn't have to walk more than 10 feet. Aka, I am undecided whether to drive or fly from Edinburgh.

I want somewhere within the city, close to Holborn would be preferrable. I would be looking to spend no more than £10 - £15 per night as that is around the cheapest rate I have already found.

I am a student so I can take advantage of any student discounts if such a thing still exists.

A hostel is absolutley out of the question!

I thought about staying north of London and just driving down. Thus I could drive to the train station and get the train into the city each day.

Anyone got any thoughts?

I can give sensible advice but saying you want to stay in London for £10 to £15 a night, not in a hostel is insane? Where was the place you found, a police cell?

And you want parking too??

a pool maybe also?

I don't think many people on this forum have even been to London, for the majority of us its a treat.

I don't think it has a pool. I'm not sure about parking. There was more than one.

I am not going on holiday, I'm simply looking for somewhere to eat and sleep for four nights or maybe eleven if it is two weeks in a row.

www.couchsurfing.com ?

And I'd fly, to be honest - you can take the tube into town from Heathrow. I got the 8am flight every week for a year from EDI and would usually get the Heathrow Express into town at about 10.

Or there's the train to King's Cross straight from Waverley. Depending how far in advance it is, you can get a ticket for 25 quid each way.

I would suggest that if you have found somewhere that suits your needs for £10-£15 per night, in London and it isn't a bail hostel....take it.
I shudder to think who you room mates will be, or what you will catch (if you make it out alive)
Honestly, 10 quid a night to stay in London and it meets your needs; you're kidding aren't you?

LSE High Holborn Hall of residence. It is £37 a night for single but I'd really like to know where you found at £15!

£14 pounds when you dial in the student discount. Althogh I want somewhere chaper, I am a student thus tight budget.

I have never heard of the place, although admittedly, I've never heard of most of the hotels in london as I've only been once.

Roommates? I think it is a private room with a private bathroom although some of the reviews say the room is a little small.
