Is mobile phone coverage getting worse ???

I'm here at work, and I've just put the phone down to yet another mobile caller, who's had to ring me six times to have a Two minute conversation....I'm on a land line by the way.
Most of my customers call me from mobiles and over the last few months, the mobile phone networks seem to have disintegrated, resulting in a load of Norman Collier impressionists trying to communicate with me.
Of all the technology improvements over the years, this seems to have taken a backward step.
My old Mercury one to one flip phone in the early 90's, made phone calls better than anything any of my customers have got.
I know you can get these dongles for laptops etc.... I'm just wondering how much they've expanded the networks to deal with all this extra data
