On Wednesday someone walked into the café at the end of my street and shot someone through the back of the head.
Today two PCSOs knocked on my door asking if I would take part in a small survey by the Met police. There was only around eight questions about my thoughts or worries on crime and policing in the area but one question made me wonder what idiot wrote the survey. Question was 'Do I think gun crime in the area has increased recently', well yes it's just increased to one.
In the 45 years I've lived here I can count on the fingers on one hand the number of times I've seen the BiB walk down my street let alone ask questions about policing so this survey was obviously in response to Wednesday's incident and maybe to alleviate any fears they think the locals may have although everyone I've spoken to isn't bothered or worried at all TBH.
So what do these people think of when they dream up these surveys or do they have a little competition amongst themselves to see who can ask the most ridiculous question.

Maybe they should write separate surveys especially for you.

That's put that bloody Kylie/Jason song in my head.

I only mention it, so it gets in someone else's now and shares my pain tongue out

Police investigate? How do you work that out? Police go out and do a Mori Poll impression. That isn't investigate......... Asking the locals if they saw anything, that would be investigate. Asking people if they think crime is on the up, that is polling.

I know which I think the police should be undertaking.

But was that a stupid question? Well, not really. Had they asked if you felt a speed camera would help this week, that would have been stupid (though of course had the gunman sped away at 35mph I would question whether or not it would have been recorded as a death by speeding.........)

There's not much to ask the locals about, the guy walked into the café, said hello to the guy then pulled a revolver and blasted him twice in the head. He then sat on the floor and told someone to call the police.
But back on topic maybe a more suitable question would be 'Am I concerned about gun crime', answer would be no.

There's too many broken hearts in this world than to add to it complaining about the police.

It sounds like the operative word is 'think', although it's a pretty unsubtle and probably ineffective way to gauge whether people think that gun crime has increased, because they know it has just increased!

I suppose they'll take it back to the office, compile a report that says that 95% of people in the area have the perception that gun crime has increased. Then in 12 months time some pollie will re poll the survey and find 50% of people think it and claim he/she is successful in fighting crime!

Im 'torn' between not knowing what this thread has become. 'I should be so lucky' that it has not turned into one of those threads thats goes off the subject and people mentioning random song names. there we go, better the Devil you know!

I reckon the most stupid question asked in this thread, was the OPs title!
