You can buy Gatwick Express tickets during your flight at a discount. Don''t know the current prices as I usally fly to Stanstead now.

I don't think it's much more than a travelcard, about £7ish to Victoria

Normal trains are c£9 each way, I think the Express is c£30 return (quicker and a nicer train).

Gatwick Express isn't worth it, the normal Southern service is very good and usually only a bit slower as it stops at East Croydon and Clapham Junction rather than direct.

Gatwick Express is about £16 each way IIRC, 30 minutes to Victoria. I'm not sure if it's cheaper in advance though, but I don't think it is.

A few years back, I left my Gatwick hotel on the train ending at Victoria Station I believe. IIRC, it was around 15 Pounds?? There were a couple of stops at very small little stations. I remember a cart going up and down the aisle selling drinks and snacks. I did not look into the small station houses on the way to Victoria, but I suppose they sell standard fare. On the way back at night, sparks began flying and the train went tits up for about 20 minutes until repairs were done. We were stalled out in what seemed a less than desirable residential area.

Assuming you're from the provinces, you probably mean London.
I am from the States. We were between Gatwick and central London. Is that still "London"?
