Inserting a page in a fancy Word template
Discussion
Tried this on the computers section and have googled until my fingers are raw;
I have a fancy three page Word template, with fancy graphics, borders etc. Is is of the type you can buy from web sites for about $30 where you get a frontage page, a chapter heading page and then a page for the bulk of the document content. Looks very professional and ideal for producing decent quality manuals, work books etc. BUT....
How do I insert duplicates of those 3 pages keeping the fancy bits? Obciously I want a number of chapters and loads of text pages, not just one of each. Powerpoint does a 'insert duplicate slide' but Word has no equivilant function.
At the moment I just get the 3 pages with their fancy colours and layouts and if I copy and paste it just takes the text conntent of the text boxes on that page, not the page design itself. I know PPT has a simple insert duplicate slide option but can't see anything like that in Word.
I had thought about 'grouping' the various elements, copying and pasting then ungrouping but there must be an easier way and the grouping, copying and pasting neatly isn't at all easy.

How is it set up, are the fancy bits active on the page or are they protected in the background?
Have you tried dragging the mouse across the entire page to select all items, then Ctrl-C? Followed by a page break and then Ctrl-V to paste - if you can select all, Word should let you paste all in exactly the same position on the new page as on the old one.

They seem to be independent items; Text boxes, frames, Jpegs etc. I have tried copying and pasting the entire page but even when it will do it the alignment of the text boxes, franmes etc gets screwed up and have to be rejigged. GHot tghis from MMM-% on the old thread
"Assuming you're working in a copy of the file that's been created by using the template, rather than having an empty file that you want to copy the template pages into, then:
If the template has been created properly, then you simply insert a new page and the headers, footers & backgrounds are continued.
If the template has been pieced together by some idiot, then you'll have to copy each of the elements separately, format the margins, and generally redo it yourself."
I think it is the later.

You could try using Page Set-up in the File menu.
Go to the Layout tab, Section Start drop-down menu and choose New Page.
In the Apply-to drop-down menu choose this point forward.
This sequence creates new sections so you can have a chapter section and document stuff section.
Creating these new sections whilst mucking about with the View menu - Header/Footer command and turning on and off the Link to Previous button on the toolbar may allow you to carry the various pages through.
