I think that by 2050.....

1. Top Gear will be called Top Plug.

2. Paper will no longer exist.

3. Social networking online will simply replace peoples social lives.

4. Most people will be working through their computers.

Companies will not pay for staff to be in an office, just provide them with a terminal that is used for video conferencing with colleges, permanent monitoring by management and various other effective measures.

5. You will not look at your computer screen - simply live inside it. You will be able to taste, feel and smell the Web.

6. There will have been a terrorist attack of epic proportions.

7. As a result of the religious conflict - all religious belief is banned.

8. Credit will not exist. We are given a state issued house + car based on qualification, age and taste. You can still get a big place and a nice plug if you save up the cash though.

9. There will be a Michelin Stared restaurant permanently based in space.

10. The Government will run everything. No private business ownership or stock market. You are allocated a career after graduation.

Ummm, any other far out predictions/hopes?

I KNOW that by 2050 I'll either be 86 years old (therefore senile) or dead.

Therefore not likely to be too worried either way.

Sorry if is this isn't the reply you were looking for.

I have to agree with Number 4. I have been saying this for years. It is all to evident when it takes upwards of an hour to travel 20 miles in this disgusting overpopulated city of NY.

There is no other option.

We'll all be at war for a tank of 'Guzoline' only those mobile enough to scavenge will survive.

Men will feed on men and in the midst of it all I'll be a broken man, the Man known as Mad Callan, The Road Warrior.

Well thats what I think it will be like anyway.

Terrorist will not go away.

Religion will not go away.

Your communist predictions will be true in some countries; quite possibly the whole EU. And, equally likely, nowhere else.

All the rest seem about as likely as global warming.

We'll have robots to do household chores for us. Probably not in the guise of human form, but automated machines that do tasks for us, i.e. robot vacuum cleaners, self cleaning cookers/ovens

clothes that keep tabs on the state of our bodies, what we're eating, and our health. This information will probably be uploaded to the state and our health insurance premiums constantly changing depending on what we do/eat with our lives.

our 'vehicles' will have automatic 'cruise control' options that drive us to our destination

space tourism will be available to the masses

porn will be in a form we can only imagine!

No, I don't think that's right. By then we shall have realised that computer power - in the hands of government - is the worst invention we could have come up with, and a revolution will have wiped out all this government control freakery and surveillance and data base crap, and the people will have taken a step back towards freedom.

Well that's what I'd like to see happen, but I won't be around; unless the timescale is brought forward rather a lot.

The misuse of technology might yet be our downfall - or at least the source of real trouble and conflict.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Fantastic idea...

You have to pay more health insurance as you put on weight.

My own predictions are that by 2050....

We will have commercial nuclear fusion power stations providing unlimited and free power resulting in...

Our reliance on fossil fuels will have disappeared to the extent oil/gas/coal have only small chemical industry uses i.e. plastics etc.
Vehicles and industry will be electric-powered and electricity will be available for a nominal charge.
The resulting drop in emissions by power generation, industry and vehicles will end the climate debate and green groups will wash, get jobs and merge back from whence they came.
The main oil/gas producers will return to living in tents.
There will be less resource driven wars in the world meaning states have less need to leave their own borders on the search.
Islamic fundamentalism will have lost the ultimate source of its funds and return to the background.
Peace will reign...maybe

Well, I think there is a strong argument for a communist regime given the fact the world is falling apart and entering a major depression.

I think that technology will move onto a next level, a realistic level. Being on your computer will turn into you life.

Terrorists will make an attack of far greater magnitude than Sept 11. I think that is very realistic.

Cars, as we know and love them, will no longer be around. They may be illegal. It will all be electric.

circuitheads.co.uk is still available laugh

These are all very realistic in my opinion.

The communist experiment has already been shown to be shonky.

Problem with communism is that it completely ignores human nature. The pressures that build due to that ignorance ultimately destroy it from the inside.

Er, no. At least, not quite.

The most fundamental problem with communism is that it is a theoretical situation that requires, in effect, infinite wealth before it can work. That does not exist, at least not on this planet. Marx understood it, and he said "(If this is Marxism,) I am not a Marxist". Human nature just tears it apart a little faster. In the really real world, we are competing for limited resources.

Still, I'm quite sure the government's selected view of history will include the short-lived, vicious, murderous regimes that communism has spawned. Or, not.
