To be honest the latest ones really don't look remotely like the E&W ones. I never used to have a problem but I sure as hell do now.

At the very least make them similar to one another.

ETA I'm not remotely surprised they're refused, and I'd refuse them if I were asked to accept them, if I didn't live up here I mean...

For an MP to complain is a bit stupid.

Well, they're not legal tender, even in Scotland, so not sure what the issue is?

Scots notes look exactly like Euros, what's the problem? Change £ to € and ... job done. Way ahead of English, sorry, english ones...hehe

Surely they are OK as they are backed by the Bank of Scotland just as sterling is backed by the Bank of England.

Oh, hang on a minute...

The best way to get them accepted is to fill your car with fuel then tell the cashier thats all you have got. either you get them accepted or the cops come and tell the cashier there is nothing wrong with them.

HTH

I have used this method many times without fail. even the cops commented, I would be stupid paying with a switch / credit card when I had the cash (albeit Jock money)

You'll be suggesting next, that RBS and HBOS are Mickey Mouse outfits run out of Edinburgh. We now know this was not the case and these two august Scots banks were run on the very Scots principals of Prudence and Thrift....laugh

They dont like being called Scottish.

The correct term is Scotch.

All British banks (except Adam's) are going down the toilet.

Lloyds, God's bank, erm, Gordy's bank, chosen to save HBOS, is nationalised, its wonderful chairman about to be unceremoniously dumped. Only a month ago he was giving speeches to fat cats over thousand pound dinners about the great efficacy of his stewardship of Lloyds. Aviva, including Norwich Union, has announded an 11.5 billion loss, and you guys are having a chuckle about the look of Scottish bank notes. What warm beer barrel have you stuck your head in? You live in Brownland. Get a grip!

LA does kind of have a point.

It's not legal tender. It's against the law to fill up your car without the means to pay i.e Bank of England notes.

BTW credit and debit cards do not constitute legal tender. Only BOE notes are legal tender.

Almost. Its just the two big banks with Scotland in their names, not all British banks, although Anglo-Irish does sound British too (AFAIK its really Irish)

You're wromg - England/UK is run by Scotsmen and Scotland is run by Scotsmen. How many English MP's do you see in either Holyrood or representing Scots constituency's in Parliament?

Labour Party with a Scottish PM!

Was in a shop the other day and a chap asked for bottled water that was not Scottish, a passed a comment what was wrong with the Scots? The response was that it was a protest against our PM. biggrin

Yes but I stay in Sheffield (and visit Scotland a couple of times a week)
and the method above has never failed.

Sorry LA, you are just going to have to put up with it until we vote out that slack jawed, one eyed, fascist scotch tw@!
After that normal service will be resumed. (unless the skirt wearing ginger ingrates decide to try and break up the most successful union there has ever been)
