New Mobole getting a good deal.
Discussion
Hi I've been with Vodafone since about 1994 - always happy with the deal, alway get a good free upgrade/
Currently spend atound £70 a month on it all and have an N95 - which I got free 18 months ago.
I've been told I will have to pay for an N96 - despite the fact I have never paid for a new phone.
Meanwhle...my wife who is a very light phone user says if we both go to orange we can get free calls between our phones and to some land lines..for a bit less.
Never dealt with Orange before...
Does anyone know of ways to get the best deal with them. Basically they are looking at two 18 month contracts...Mine - where I will want a free N96 and my light user wife who wants a nice phone but who isn't bothered about it being bang up to date...
Oh and i want to take my mobile number with me...Ive had it since the first month 07 numbers came out, so its been with me a while..
Cheers
Dan

It's my general view that every phone can be free if you speak to the right person!
Phone Vodafone up and tell them why Orange sounds appealing to you and ask what they would be willing to offer to keep you. Maybe also phone up Orange beforehand to see what they will give you if you move. Orange also do free internet so again, another bargaining chip. If Vodafone still won't give you the phone for free and Orange are offering better tariif etc, then utter these magic words, "I'd like to be put through to cancelations please". The people in that department can sometimes walk on water to keep you...otherwise, just move to Orange anyway!
Orange do a thing called Orange Group where you and the other phone on your contract have free calls between eachother, and you also get Magic Numbers where the same applies, for someone else with an Orange phone. One of your mates for example

Don't bother - they aren't interested, I tried!I was with Orange for 11 years, and left 18 months-ish ago when they wouldn't play ball with an upgrade. I too used to spend a lot of money and enjoy a free upgrade every year.
I moved to T-mobile for various reasons, and then when the wife renewed 6 months later, she got a cracking deal. I phoned up to see if they'd match it, but they weren't interested.
I went back to T-mobile, who offered me a Nokia 5800 for £15pm.
You'll almost always get a better deal by threatening to leave your current provider, and then staying with them.
