A decent one. I have £50.

Ballpoint preferably.

Any recommendations?

Cross? I'd be livid. Wasting £50 on a ball point.

Not really into fountain pens, needs to be quite versatile as it will be used a lot.

I have a fountain pen, not an expensive one really - and I just don't use it for that reason.

Why are there so many threads on Pens ??

Are pens the new 'Watches' ??

Are you going to see celebrities walking around with pens sticking out of their top pockets ??

Are they THE new accessory to have ??

Are there going to be programs repeated on Dave about pens in years to come ??

Spend £50 on a pencil. Then you're cool.

Tesco has Mont Blanc ball pens (black/platinum) for £70. I paid a lot more for mine frown

If I was to buy an expensive pen, it would almost have to be a fountain. Spending a ton on a ballpoint would just leave me feeling a bic would have done the job too, no matter how well it wrote.

The refills would, surely, also be expensive - failing that you'd be gutted to spend £1 on a refill as that'd make it clear that the ballpoint is only as good as its refill.

I use my fountain pen all the time - It's a parker and only cost £60. It's lasted me brilliantly and it's the only pen I'll ever need.

I've also noticed that while my biros go walkabout, my fountain pen never has.

Box of BIC biros. You can chew as much as you want, bin it when it snaps or runs out, whatever happens first, and not have to worry about losing it.
Plus have £46 to spend on something more constructive than a pen...

Check out Lamy too - they're pretty good quality and not too pricey. If you fancy something a bit "different" take a look at Tombow.

I was given the cash to spend on something as a gift, back on my 21st - back then I had no money so spent it on crap.

I have since been asked what i bought.
