Interesting.

I think Guantanamo Bay may have some vacancies soon. Perhaps the ship owners should all pay a premium to keep it open to house covicted pirates. It would be cheap[er than paying ransoms.

Dont captuer them in the first place is the answer. A few rounds from the 4.5 inch gun should solve the problem admirably.

No, we need all the pirates we can get. I have seen a scientific study which plots the decline in pirate numbers with a rise in CO2 in the atmosphere

Prevent further global warming by saving pirates

Absolutely! Simples, as Aleksander Orlov would say.

Much like those chaps who ripped off the supertanker. Oh, wait, no, their getaway boat mysteriously sank with loss of everyone on board. scratchchin

Hang them at Execution Dock, coat their body in tar, arr-arr and let them stay there until they rots to nothing and their bones falls into the briny.

It worked last time, why not now?

That depends on whether he's a jolly, pegged legged pirate who loves his plunder, or a murdering savage... the pegged leg git would probably be able to get off on mitigating circumstances brought about by the loss of his leg to the armed forces that caught him, and make a tidy loot from the compensation claim

Woold them, arr.

Woolding was a form of torture practiced by pirates hereabouts, particularly Captain Morgan's buccaneers.

There's none what likes a good woolding, arr.
