Yep - I agree with him.

Can't really see why this would be contentious.

The man does give rather a lot of money away to charity as well though does he not?

yes Bill Gates is up there somewhere amongst the greatest altruists ever. Although some might say there is some sort of a Robin Hood thing going on given that he made his billions by selling stuff to ordinary folks. But no matter.

Personally, I can see the argument that the percentile tax burden for the wealthy should not be less than that of the middle and lower income brackets. Nothing too controversial there if taken at face value.

The headline is misleading though. Very misleading.

Indeed. He's pledged the vast majority of his fortune to his own foundation for future use. As has Warren Buffet (pledged the cash to Gates' foundation).

I'd much prefer the money to go directly from a philanthropists hands and thus 'more' directly to where it will actually do some good, rather than through the coruption inherent in the system used to administer it via taxation

Thought he was no. 1, and by quite some margin?

I have an idea. Warren Buffett has pledged his cash to the Gates Foundation. Now all I have to do is get the Gates Foundation to pledge it to the Simpo Foundation and I'm home free bounce
