Never been to Mauritius so can't comment, but have been to the Maldives and well just WOW!

You won't be disappointed.

Mauritius has more seasonal weather.

Mauritius has more to it than just your resort - it's a decent sized island.

The Maldives has better diving. Mauritius has better surfing.

The Maldives WILL give you the perfect white sand, azure sea photograph every time.

Both have great hotels.

I like both.

We honeymooned in Mauritius and went to the Maldives the next year.

Maldives if you want th perfect beach holiday.

Mauritius if you appreciate a good beach but also value culture, variety and history.

Mauritius has a winter.

Between June and September the UK will be just as warm. July/Aug are also very windy.

And the sea temperature is chilly until about November.

Lets face it on your honeymoon you wont be interesterested in sight seeing.

I did Maldives and it was perfect. But then all i did was sit on perfect beach, sh*g, sit on beach, sh*g, repeat and add a bit of food every couple of hours

What she said. Who gives a flying about culture on a honeymoon. It's banging from dawn til dusk.

We got our taste of acultural honeymoon in Legends in Mauritius. Fabulous. Pretty much any 5* AI will see you right in either destination.

Just don't go to Curepipe (in Mauritius) - it's cold (relatively), wet and not as nice.

The resorts there are nice (and expensive) but a lot of the rural parts of the island are still poverty stricken.

(Speaking as one whose parents are from Mauritius and whose Mother goes back every year)

Florida.

Much more fun, and you can have a go on the dragsters in Old Town Orlando.

OK, ta, I just wondered whether the Maldives is the "regulation" HM destination and whether Mauritius offers a decent alternative.

But we'll be away from the start of June so if the weather is potentially iffy then, that may be the decider.

Maldives then. It's winter in Mauritius in June.

Got married last May in Mauritius in the height of winter. Hot hot hot and sunny sunny sunny although I am sure I did put on a pair of trousers once during the 3 weeks. Well.. I assume I did because I remember taking them off smile

Mauritius actually was an interesting place to visit, with a bit of interesting history and quite a lot to see and do outwith the actual hotel/resort.
