Prompted by a discussion yesterday about one of our old colleagues who used to take a bath once a month when he visited his parents….

He lived in a bed sit, without access to a shower or bath…. It was only towards the end of the month when he would really start to whiff…

So how often do you bathe?

At least once a day for me.

In my youth I once lived in a place that was being done up and had no shower or bath for a few months. The rent was indescribably cheap!

I used to stand in a plastic basin of warm water put down on the floor where the bath was going to be and wash top to toe, plenty of soap. Fresh basin of water to wash my hair.

Daily, of course...

So I went two months without a shower or a bath and never whiffed once. You can do it if you REALLY have to!

I suspect that if you worked like the French, you would only need a bath once a month and a splash of cologne.

Because you use less water and detergent and hence it's a greener lifestyle? hehe

Thats the colour he turns to and the slight green hue you can see emanating from the neck and sleeve holes of his shirt, after a couple of weeks vomit

Singapore! what a wonderfull part of the globe, and having been there, (cant remember what time of the year), were just about damp all day with the humidity......

Back to the post, bath maybe 3 or 4 times a year, shower daily, only takes 3 mins, much less water wastage.

Just part of the routine of getting up and ready for work, surely? Otherwise you just feel skaggy... but maybe thats the point - if you don't have a shower every day, then after a while your body gets used to it, and your body gets back to its natural rythmn with natural body oils etc... but once a month is taking the michael.

And XJSJohn - not suprised. Singapore was the only place I've been where you could feel the sweat rolling down your back 2 seconds after leaving an air conditioned building. Bloody horrible.

That will be just about any time of year ... hehe

Phumy, Singapore has very strict laws about how free i am alowed to let my swollocks go (unless I am in Geylang, Joo Chiat or Four Floors and then they can be basically off the leash!!!!;) )

I cycle to work every day so have a shower when I arrive.

It would probably be less if I had to use my own water!

Shower first thing in the morning at home.

Do sport most days at work, so shower then also.

I'd hate for anyone to smell me and think "poo, he's a bit whiffy".

Someone has this mentioned earlier.... but we are now utterly conditioned to believe that we need to continually scrub ourselves raw, strip our bodies of all their natural oils and protection, apply artifical scents and then apply moisturiser to replace what we've just scrubbed off.

Crazy.

Once a day usually, shower, first thing in the morning. Twice if I go to the Gym or if I'm going out for the evening.
