Camp with PistonHeads at Britcar 24

Or book a Snooze Box instead, while we watch Dan race in the GT86 Britcar racer

PistonHeads will host a private campsite at the Britcar 24 Hours taking place at Silverstone (21st – 23rd September, 2012) and while we relax, PH editor Dan will be racing through the night in a Toyota UK supported GT86.

Quite frankly we can think of nothing better than camping with other PHers enjoying a cold beer and cheering on the PH car in the race. Of course, other cars will be racing but Dan will be the fastest (fingers crossed) and he needs our support.

The camping area at the circuit is close to the National Paddock and pit straight (old pit straight). The campsite is located just behind the old grandstands and paddock bridge.  On site there will be toilets and showers for campers and while there are no catering or bar facilities on the site, we are working with the event organisers to ensure that there are facilities close to the site entrance. We will keep you posted as things develop regarding this, but you can always BBQ your own food and get into the camping spirit.

PH will have a dedicated area within the campsite, to reserve a space in this area make sure you enter ‘PistonHeads’ in the car club field when booking online and we will do the rest.

From the site it is a short walk to the viewing area opposite the National Paddock and pits. Access to the paddock area and infield viewing areas is via a tunnel near Copse corner. This brings you our near the top end of the paddock and the viewing bank by copse corner.

There are two sizes of camping pitches available (both can be purchased as a package with entry tickets and a programme) or if you have already purchased your tickets you can buy the camping pitch on its own.

The table below details the camping package types and prices:

Update on campsite conditions: We've been up to Silverstone to check on campsite area. The site is now completely dry and firm underfoot. There are still some temporary structures from the British Grand Prix that need to be removed, but all in all it is looking goood.

The PH area will be in the same part of the site as last year with more spaces if needed. There will be the same level of facilities (toilets, showers, urinals) on the campsite.

Snooxebox We also took a good look at the Snoozebox rooms, which make an ingenious use of space. The twin room configuration has a single bunk and a double bed, the wet room looks great and there is even a TV and a safe!

Additional benefit for PH campersWe have secured a limited number of weekend wristbands for the Snoozebox lounge and bar area. These are exclusively for PH campers and will issued on a date booked basis.

We look forward to seeing you on site in a about a months time.

I stayed in one of the Snoozebox rooms at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.Having done the long drive every day 3 years ago, then the past 2 years slept in a tent (or not)..this years experience was fantastic..to sleep in a very comfortable bed, watch the telly, have a hot shower in my room and then a big breakfast..yes its a bit more than you might spend but its worth it..

E mailed earlier this week to see what was what, they were saying the tickets should be getting posted out yesterday. In any case, not long to go! Just hoping the weather will be a bit better than it is here just now! smile
