Just Meguair'd the Elise
Discussion
I bought some of the Meguiars range a couple of weeks ago and did the Elise with it yesterday. Results were absolutely superb. Car has a better shine than when I picked it up from the showroom, 24 000 miles ago.
I used the 3 step system range. Didn't need stage 1 which is the paint restorer. Just used stage 2 - the polish and stage 3 the carnuba wax. Very easy to apply. They do the little sponge applicators £3 for 4, which work well. The paintwork has a super-smooth shiny "feel" to it, and really looks wet and glossy.
It doesn't leave any residue or stain plastics as the Autoglym can do. Really recomend it. Each bottle costs £8. Decent value.

Look at www.meguiars.co.uk They have a stockist locator. It is becoming much more readily available, so you shouldn't have too much problem finding some.
I use Meguires and highly recommend it.
If you are going to wax it for the first time wash the car first with normal washing up liquid as this will strip off any old wax or polish. After that you should only need to wax about twice a year.
The Meguires car shampoo is well worth getting. It cleans really well and wont strip the way off the car.

I use it also (when I can be bothered) and it realy does make the car shine. You can get it for the same price on www.speeding.co.uk but with free delivery IIRC

nope - its just wax/polish. Ive never tried Diamondbrite, but to be honest I cant really see any sort of polymer protecting the Elise clams from stonechips - it may work to an extent on metal cars. If you really want that sort of pain protection you really need armourfend (or similar plastic film) IMO

I agree - After having my car "Supaguarded" from new, the amount of stone chips in front of the rear wheels proves that it's absolutely no use!
The 3 stage programme is a paint cleaner, polish and a wax.
The paint cleaner removes contaminants from the paint and leaves it really smooth. The polish puts on a high gloss shine then the way seals in the shine and protects the paint.
Usually just washing will be enough to get it really shiney again as the polished paint is still intact under the layer of wax (thats why you need to use a car shampoo that doesnt strip off wax or you will have to do the lot again.
Unless your cars is in a particularly bad state I would only do the 3 stage system once a year. Meguires sell Cleaner Wax which removes contaminats from the paint and waxes at the same time. Only about £8 and very good.
Favourite stuff is the tyre gel. It keeps the tyres looking black and shiney for a couple of weeks.

The polish and carnuba was smell a bit like the old pink penny bubblegums. Strange. Or is it just me that's strange?
We're grown men spending too much time talking about cars on the internet with strangers... I think it's all of us that's strange!
Well according to 'er indoors anyway, and what does she know about anyway? Kittens, soft furnishings, matching shoes, handbags, gloves, accessories etc...
Donning Nomex suit and hat for grilling by the ladies on the forum - sorry girls
