Hello all,

Just fitted Yoko Advan Neova's all round on my S1 (replacing Pirelli's on the front and Michelin Primacy the back), had a bit of a surprise on the first serious corner with the back coming around to say hello.

Not that it hasn't been fun but I used to be able to take a corner much quicker before any type of oversteer/understeer occurred.

Anyone experienced the same thing?

Steve.

How many miles have you done on them? you usually need a few hundred on them to wear off the release compound...they will be very slippy when brand new so be careful !

Absolutely! Most decent tyre places remind performance car owners of this fact when they have new tyres fitted.

Be VERY careful for the first 100 miles or so after you have new tyres, especially when on the back of a RWD car.

Check your pressures!

I inflated mine to the book pressures of 23/27.5 psi (1.6/1.9 bar) and the back-end was all over the place. I usually set my cold pressures to 22/25 which feels just right and not at all squirmy when they warm up.

Bonce appears to be getting in ahead of me on all of 'em today.

Tyre fitting places rarely get the pressures right so make sure they're as per the manual 23psi/24.5psi for an S1 IIRC.

I think Bonce's are the correct pressures - running a little lower is about right with the Advans I find.
