Hi guys, i've been lurking around on these pages for a while now but recently I bought the car of my dreams!!
So finally I committed to this great resource of ownership experiences and general car/lotus knowledge.
I am now the owner of a 1997 Lotus elise S1, and its exactly as I always wanted it, blue with black interior and the black soft top. At the moment I live in the netherlands but the car is an import from the UK, so RHD, I'm still considering whether to convert to LHD but for me that doesn't have to be job 1.
I'll try uploading some images when I've had the time to take some decent pics.

Might be useful if you're looking to convert to LHD: http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=294622

Quite a few members from mainland Europe over on SELOC and a fair few RHD to LHD conversion.
I think Eliseshop do a kit of all the parts you'd need and you can recoup some of the costs selling on the RHD trim.

Keep it RHD.

Save money. Ensure steering and controls are as their maker intended. Better for tracks (most go clockwise so you have a predominance of right turns, you can be more accurate on the apex with RHD, most racers including 60's ferraris etc were RHD for that reason, less so nowadays however).

Also you can put it on the ferry and enjoy it in the UK, you have Norfolk, amazing tracks over here, incredible roads in Scotland, Wales....

either way welcome to Lotus ownership.
