Just a thought, could Lotus be planning on holding off
from adding a V6 to the elise until they have sold as many 4 cyls as the market will accept ?

nope...I dont think they can fit a V6 in there....if they did what would the benfit be - a 950kg - 1000Kg car with 220-250bhp ...it would need a pair of blowers on it to make it interesting...then you may as well get a NOble....it would probably be about the same price anyway !

It's been done. A German outfit managed to cram an Audi unit into an S2 and the folks at Evo magazine got 180+ out of it on the autobahn in their "200mph on the road" issue a while back.

yeah - the Lotus Esthi is a type approved car based on the Elise though and costs £80,000 ! ....I dont even know if theyve sold more than one or 2 yet either

Its not whether it can be done...its if it will be done by Lotus - I dont think so myself

I don't think so either. It would overlap too much with any plans they have for an Esprit replacement.

Anyone any ideas what the Lotus Elise V6 - to arrive summer 2004!!! is on the Top Gear website? Have seen this before on there but assume it is incorrect?

same as above - a rumour started by Autocar over 2 years ago when they say the Toyota test mules with strange exhausts...they presumed it was a V6
