fitting an ally handbrake handle

when fitting an alli handbrake handle how do i remove the original ????
is it cut off?

if its an s1 the plastic handbrake cover just pulls off.

Same if it's an S2. In my case the existing handbrake sleeve was on too firmly so I had to (very carfeully) use a piece of wood and mallet to gently knock it off.
