I know theres a lot of interest in the Honda engine conversion for the elise but does anyone know if the VX220 turbo engine would work?? I have to admit i hate the Vauxhall but wish the elise was using there powerplant for sure.

too difficult to fit - would require a different rear subframe and bodywork....drop an Audi 1.8turbo with 250-300bhp in there for less money

If you put a VX220 engine in an Elise using a VX220 subframe and dress it up with bodywork that will fit, say from a VX220, havent you got a....VX220?

VX motor needs a different subframe so would be a huge job. If you want more power then go for a honda. If you want something with turbos then go for an Audi conversion.

looks like a neat package - but you can probably get 250 bhp from the rover engine for less cost

Has a zetec ever been fitted to an elise ?

LOL - you are joking right?

to get 220bhp from the rover youre looking at £7Kish ...and then rebuilds every 20K miles if you are lucky

250bhp out of the rover is nigh on impossible in an Elise without forced induction...and BBR Turbo or TT supercharger conversions are like £10K for 230bhp

Honda or Audi is the way to go if you want big reliable power - Ive got 230bhp supercharged, but theres no way on earth it will do 100K miles without a rebuild like the Honda or Audi would

Looks nice, but it looks like you lose your boot in the process?

the firewall has to be cut out and moved back about 1" IIRC ...you still keep the rest of your boot
