Woohoo!

Having waiting seemingly ages, my 54-plate 111r is finally here. What a car! It's even better than I remember the test drive.

Sorry for the blatent showing off - but I can't help it!

It's a beauty! What colour is that? Is it just the light that makes it look bronzy?

I think a combination of the light and my frankly rubbish digicam make it look orangey. It's actually Ardent Red, so IRL, it's a bright & vivid signal red.

Only thing is that when I'm on balanced throttle at 70, I can hear a vibration from either behind the dash or in the nose. If I gas it or back right off the throttle, it goes away, and sounds like something metallic not fully tightened. Anyone think of what this might be? I'm getting the dealer to check it out but I'd be interested to hear suggestions.

Thanks!

Running in is a *******! I'm keeping to about 3500rpm & half throttle max, with the occasional burst of hard acceleration to about 4000. The oil change & checkup is booked for 21st so I can't wait to let 'er rip on the speed cam for the first time after that.

Congrats!!

Remember picking my new Elise S up a year ago - great feeling - would love to test drive an 'R' I bet it's fantastic.

Enjoy the 'Indian Summer' over the next few days!

Nice looking car.

I bet the only bloke feeling as happy as you at the moment is Simon on the Lamborghini forum who has just picked up a new Orange Murcielago.

Have a good first weekend with it.

I got busy with the camera again after having bought an armload of Auto Glym products, so here are the obligatory "after" shots.

Unfortunately, the roof remains in place. Somewhat embarrasingly, I can't get the Torx bolts holding the hardtop on to move. I think they must have been put in using a power tool and I can't get enough musclepower through the allen key to shift them. Also, I'm a bit wary of chewing up the bolt heads.

Anyway, on to the pics:
