Mysterious "thing" in footwell

As you may have seen from my other thread, I took delivery of my 111r yesterday. Woohoo!

However, when I got it home, I found a rubber bung in the drivers footwell, down near the pedals. I have no idea what it's from or where it goes. Can anyone shed any light on this?

would not worry I now have a collection of bits of bungs clips and widgets that have been found in and around the car - dont know what any are for but I keep them just in case something falls off one day.

That must be the test driver's stick - his knees are probably knackered getting in and out of all those Elises!

The photo makes it look bigger than it is. It's about 2cm across, max.

Is it a rubber bump stop for one of the pedals so that at full travel on clutch or accelerator the pedal does not scratch the footwell / overextend?

nah - pretty sure that is a spare screw cover. If you wish to see one on your own S2 elise take one of the front panels off - they cover the screws at either end. Admittedly you'll have to spend 6 years undoing the bastard screws, but hey!

nothing to worry about Im pretty sure.... (apologies if car now comes into component parts whilst driving!)

Well done to CVP for correctly identifying the "thing". It was the bump-stop from behind the accelerator.

so without that stop you can oput the pedal down further and go faster ! and some muppets spend fortunes getting thier engines tuned and stuff

Still check the Elise board regularly as I miss the old beastie terribly.

Anyone here buy a Cobalt Blue S2 Sports Tourer from Adrian Blyth earlier in the year, reg staarted Y 104 ? I'd love to think he'd gone to a fellow Ph'er.

Chris, It was sold to a chap in Carshalton - to the best of my knowledge I've not seen him on PH.
