have been reading some threads about how much better S1 feels with S2 shocks. Can these be fitted as a straight replacement without any mods? Would like to get rid of knocks and bangs without loosing handling performance. Any ideas?

Hey i was going to post this up today-decided nitrons are way to expensive! read lots aboout the s2 bilstein Eibach setup now available and it seems it makes the world of difference!!

I want to know the best place/price i can get them everywhere i have searched is around £570ish...

I know its not comparable really but my friend had some bilstein's fitted on his corsa gsi and just being a passenger totally changed the feel of the entire car..

They're a pretty straightforward DIY exchange - take a look on www.seloc.org or www.british-cars.com for comments and sources. Steve Butts is a name to look for.
They're not as good as Nitrons but are very good value for money.

also try Bernard at www.auto-teknix.com - he makes teh brackets you will need for them to fit. Then have a look on the classifieds on SELOC for a 2nd hand set for about £150-250 - there are always people upgrading to S2 LSS and selling their old stuff. I just got rid of a full set for £75 - but it had done 50K miles. The new owner is very pleased - no more noise etc, lower ride height (from the brackets) and less roll etc

Hi I.C

I recently changed my S1 setup to the S2 style and I was really impressed. The changes did the following.

1 stopped the bloody knocking noises from the Koni shocks.
2 ride is now more composed and less crashy
3 steering feel is much improved
4 turn in is less of a hit and miss affair

If you want some detailed info on prices I paid, etc... do a search for the following:

S1 WITH S2 STYLE SUSPENSION............WOW!

So, would S2 LSS be as simple an upgrade as fitting the S2 shocks and springs?

Pretty much - though none of us above have mentioned that it's worth getting the care's suspension geometry checked and possible re-set, particularly if lowering the car a little.
