Advans for S1 where to buy or any alternative?
Discussion
Two months old to Piston Heads.
The MOT came 2 weeks ago and looks like a set of boots for DVO are required soon.
Don’t laugh I have been running P Zeros from new all 83,000 miles.
After searching Piston Heads Yokohama Advan Neova LTS heavily promoted by many of you. These I gather can only be purchased through the Lotus dealers.
In the past I have used Micheldever Tyres near Winchester who are very competitive when it comes to rubber. Unfortunately they can not supply Yokohama Advan Neova LTS.
Just a few questions to you all:
1) Can these be purchased from another source other than a Lotus dealer?
2) Rough price on a full set of Yokohama Advan Neova LTS fitted?
3) Is there an alternative to Yokohama Advan Neova LTS?
4) Who is good for Geometry near to Reading?
All comments welcome.

1) Some Lotus specialists are also able to supply them. Oh, and buyatyre.com (IIRC) do a mobile fitting of them.
2) £420 fitted.
3) Toyo Proxes get good reviews and are more like £300 a set. I believe elise owners have dabbled in other brands too but I have no info.
4) Sorry, don't know. I use Sinclaires - www.lotusrepairs.com
If you don't get through tyres quickly then Advans are certainly worth the extra In My Honest Opinion.

Advans are great, I believe some have good things to say about Toyo's too.
I think between £450 and 500 fitted IIRC.
Not sure if you can order them and have them fitted locally by someone else.
If you fancy a trip down to the coast Miles @ Fibreglass Services can get them and have them fitted for you. He did mine. If not and you want to pay P&P I'm sure he'd be able to arrange something.

Sorry.
I would go for Advans if you can afford them. They totally transform the car when coming from P0's.
Toyos are quite cheap but get mixed reviews. A lot of people dont like the tyre wall flex you apparently get with them.
The other choice would be Goodyear Eagle F1's. Supposed to be very good and won a group test in some mag. Not sure of the cost though.
You could look at some Toyo T1-R's
Do to any tyre fitter you trust, point them at the jacking points and make sure they use some sort of rubber between the jack and the car, stand back and leave them to it.
Try speaking to Steve Williams 01628 770066 (independant lotus specialist in Maidenhead) for any work you need doing, if he can not do it he will be able to point you at the best place

where abouts are you?
lakeside engineering will fit you a set for about 400, i know because because iu was talking to them about it a couple fo weeks ago and i'm desperately trying to wear out my mitchelins, thy were so much better then the p zeros, but they are so hard wearing, ok i know i should just get the advans, but it seems a waste to throw away good tyres

I live in Reading near junction 10.
Where are lakeside?
£400 is getting better used to pay £160 for 2 x fronts, £170 for 2 x rears so very near the same.
Also Steve Williams has serviced the car for around three years, the last was Specialised paintwork due to Steve moving.
Piquet, from your profile you have a very interesting stable of vehicles.
