i wanna lower my standard s1 as the ride height is a little off road like. can anyone tell me the cheapest route to take and prices involved. is the lss kit a wise choice???? at the mo im running standard wheel size but am lookin into sizin up 16F 17R. will this cause any probs. im also struggling to find any whhels 4 my s1. i want a set of those black multi spokes you see on the new s2 but so far the prices ive seen are crazy!!!! can anyone suggest any reasonable dealers and also post the exact sizes on here as im not 2 sure on what to ask for. cheers guys......
Cheapest way to lower your S1 is 8 bags of sand cost about £8 from B+Q !
LSS is good but expensive your better off getting the S2 suspension setup which can be had new for about £500 plus geo.
If you want different alloys you'll want elisetarts

Tend to agree with steff on this one. The S2 kit comes well recommended by quite a few people on here and SELOC.
As for upping the wheel sizes, why bother? The original sizes were designed by the Lotus engineers for the car, going bigger will only upset the drive of the car. Plus I think you'll need hub adaptors.
Not sure if you can fit S2 wheels to the S1, but IMHO your best bet is to get some of the lush Technomagnisio ones from the S160.

the brackets required are availble from www.auto-teknix.com - I think you can lower it 10/20/30mm - std S1 ride height is 140/140mm I think, Std S2 is 130/130mm - you dont want to go much lower than 120/120 if you actually want to be able to go places in it
As above - not advisable just to change wheel/tyre size...unless you are a bit of a car set-up guru...or take it somewhere that know what they are doing so they can set the car up for you. Try www.eliseparts.com for wheel adaptors for aftermarket wheels.
If I remember correctly from the making of the Elise book/video it was originall going to run even smaller wheels, but they upped it to 15/16 for aesthetic reasons....big wheels = more unsprung weight (generally) which is not a good thing

spot on mate. cheers for that. the brackets look ideal (web site states -15mm all round). Any idea on difficulty in fitting as im not that well equipped in the tool department, also where does this leave me with wheel alignment and such things???.as for the wheels i think ill might stick with the originals finished in black.......mustve been the ride height of the that was puttin me off the look of it. the brackets are a cheap alternative. think ill spend my hard earned on a hard top...HARD TOP 4 SALE ANY 1??????????

If you fiddle with the corners you'll need a geo to get everything set-up nice and true afterwards. Sinclaires did my last one and the car's totally like new since.
As for the Hard Top, I'd spend your heard earned elsewhere mate. They're great if you've got one but I'd spend the £600 to a grand it'll cost you for a decent one on other gubbins... hurricane, quickshift etc. and some 1st Lotus training.

Might be talking tosh here but aren't the clams adjustable in relation the wheels (well, chassis but you know what I mean)?
If it's purely an aesthetic improvement you're looking for maybe you can drop the clams a few mill?
Er no you could probably raise the clam but not lower it.
