I'm being pressured by my nearest & dearest to invest in either
a) a hard top or
b) some waders,
due to the amount of water that enters my car at the usual points (i.e) top of the windows. My question is this, if I buy a hard top, does this do anything at all to help eliminate these leaks?

Cheers in advance

Leaks depend on how neatly the roof is fitted and how well the windows are adusted, for both the hard and soft variety.

Agree with Adrian, you probably want to check the window alignment if it's that bad.

The hardtop does fit a little more snugly but window adjustment would be a cheaper option!

It's pretty appaling - but no worse than the day I first picked up my brand new one, leaked like crazy then too. I put it down to 'Character'!

It was probably never adjusted properly. I spent a few hours with my s1 and made it watertight even in the most horrendous down pours.

My S2 leaked when I got that (MUSTARD!!!) but that took about 5 minutes to fix.

Make sure you use some hood restorer regularly and it will cause the water to "roll off" the roof rather than soak in. I use Autoglym but I'm sure they're all the same really!

That said I do have a hard top for my S2, but it came free with the car.

Softtop on my S1 leaks around the top corner of the drivers window. I've noticed that the seals on S2's have a sort of built in gutter to them.

No leaks at all when the hard top is on.

Good to have but not sure I would pay 500 notes+ to get one.

My hard top leaks worse than the soft top and the noise is far worse with the hard top on. Not even sure if i'll bother with it this winter.

Roughly how regularly should you do it? Mine is never garaged!
