New Radical engine
Discussion
Interesting arcticle in Autocar about the new Radical SR8 road legal car. Runs an in-house developed 360 BHP V8 engine.
The bit that interests me is that they say with a bit of tweaking they can fit this into the Elise! They're selling the engines for £16k + VAT. Now that I'd like to see!

While talking about interesting developments. My friend runs an international race series and the company for which he works had developed 4(??) electric elises that are quicker than their petrol brothers and have limited problems usually associated with electric cars (low range etc). The real shame is that the development work has now finshed and the cars are just sitting there wasting their potential. Apparently the cars are awesome with instant torque and still great handling.
i have got an old copy of CCC detailing the V8 2.6ltr engine that was planned for use in the SR3/4 road car. "basicaly" 2 Busa units on a comon crank. i will see if i can dig out the copy and sea if there is anything interesting about it. there is a couple of thins i can remeber, with transmition (Quafie 6speed Sequen') it was well under 100Kg, i think about 85! also it was making well over 100lbs ft at about 2000rpm i think, so would probaly out pull a K series! and the small fact that it will pull well over 9 and make over 300bhp.
there are 2 more builder making similar units, Cyclone (i think) is one and Moto build is the other i think. will conferm when i read the article. i thing the last to units where going on sale for about £15K+vat and you would then need the box.
still would be ace to see one of these engines fitted.
thanks Chris.
PS. one of the builder said that the CNC machined ally sump was bullet proof, and would support twin turbos and 600BHP!!!!!!!!!!!
