i have read the posts about engine swaps etc on here i have started one once myself.... talk of turbo technics etc and even a few wayward ideas of mine of cosworth power.. however the vx220 is simliar to the elise so would the 2 litre 16 valve vauxhall red top cos cast one 2ltr trubo would this fit? because my friend resently bought a cavalier turbo and thats quite fast.. what do you lot think after all i am no expert ... :-)

look forward to reply

whist nothing is impossible, this would not be easy...

although the VX does have a vauhall enigine fitted, the rear end of the car is not the same as an elise.

then look at all the fun they had fitting the turbo in the the VX, they had to steel a shed load of what little boot space it had, then raise the floor, and increase the vents everywhere.

also, not all vauhall engines are the same size, can't remeber which one the calibra had though...

Anything is possible with enough money and time however the tried and tested options are
1. DVA power, takes the K and then with a new ECU, cams, vernier, new throttle bodies and some head work you can have anything up to I think 200BHP
2. Turbo Technics 190 or 230BHP conversion
3. Honda
4. Audi

The audi is meant to be fairly bullet proof to 250BHP and it can be converted to 330BHP+ and for the power crazed and wealthy this is the way to go.

There is lots of talk about a Duratec conversion however I don't think that it would fall into the "tried and tested" banner yet.
