I read on the Parkers Guide website that the Elise came with an 8 year warranty on the bodywork - anyone know if this is actually true and what it covers.

I've noticed that there is a small amount of paint bubbling on some cars and wondered a) what it is caused by and b) if it's a known problem that Lotus will fix under the bodywork warranty.

Cheers,
Tim

AFAIK it is the body, i.e the aluminium tub that has the 8 year guarantee, NOT the actual paintwork. The paint is probably only covered by the 2 year Lotus warranty, for new cars.

My early S2 Racetech had some minor bubbling at the bottom of the rear wheel arches. As it happened I PX'd the car, but Lotus would have sorted it without too much quibble.

Mine is just being sorted now. I have bubbling in the middle of the rear clam just by the boot latch (in the shape of the boot latch) apparantly this is a design fault wherby the drainage pipe in the boot is stuck directly onto the fibreglass which draws the water into the fibreglass (as fibreglass is porus). Lotus know all about it and mine is being fixed soon under warranty.
