Advice needed on S2 alarm

Last night my alarm went off (I think cos it was so cold).
Now every time I activate the alarm, a high pitched tone sounds and the red light on the dash stays on. Then after about 30 secs the tone stops and the red light starts to flash normally.
It has never done this before - any ideas?

the alarm does become a lot more sensitive in the winter esp. to cars with loud exhausts passing by.

could be the microwave sensor picking up vibrations that in less dense air would not normally set it off or the cold actually affecting the electronics/trigger level.

Generally suggests that one of the contacts is not working properly.

Check all the points covered, doors, rear hatch, (bonnet?) and make sure they're all working properly. The manual has instructions on how to test I think.

The long beep is to warn you that its not arming properly IIRC.
