Anybody ever changed a Clutch or better still a crankshaft oilseal. I've got a S2 Ractech (51) with 6K miles (6,000 Miles) and the crankshaft oil seal is leaking. After a 50 mile run oil is coming out of the bell housing hole beneath the flywheel housing. It's not that bad and I've done 1K miles and the oil level has only gone down about 5mm on the dip stick but it's bugging me and I'm going to fix it.

Have done a lot of work on engines in the past (mainly minis) so no problems getting stuck in. Which is the best way to start this, is it best to remove the rear camshell or can it all be done from underneath ? Anybody had any experience.

Got a workshop manual from eBay (£4) with all the tools required which I'm having trouble sourcing but not planning on doing it until next year so plenty of time to plan everything before I do it.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Alex

You can drop the g/box without removing the clam. The rear oil seal is a relatively common failure on the K series, so as long as you're confident with a spanner, it's a fairly straightforward job.

as said, easy enough, just time consuming..

things to note:

use NEW flywheel bolts, don't re-use the old ones
change the clutch plate whist your there
when fitting the new seal, make sure the block is VERY clean, and if it's not a tight fit, use silicon to stick it in.
