Sorry about the vagueness of this one.
i am 23
i did quite badly at university (3 years i sometimes debate the usefulness of)
i have pretty much slobbed for 2 years
i want a career
i want a career with cars (don't we all???!!!)
I once got turned down for a valeting job at ford because i was not suitable (i'm not quite sure why, apparently the manager was not obliged to give me a reason). I don't seem to have much luck, but i'm sure some of this might be due to poor searching/applying.
Obviously i want to find a job working with lotus (i constantly look at their homepage job section). I haven't yet gone down the writing to all the dealers approach as i want to exhaust every other avenue. my letter writing is somewhat rusty, so i'd rather leave it as a last resort.
Any suggestions please please please. I only ever posted one of these threads before, which with hindsight i wouldn't have. Sorry to the author of the elise 111r review. I was being harsh!!!

It sounds to me you are feeling a bit down?
Why do you want to work with cars? I understand that you like cars, as we all do, but I dont know if I would want to work with them. When I was a kid, and really until I joind the RAF, I loved Aircraft. I thought that were magical not only how thay flew but all the working parts working together, I was very impressed. I then started to work with aircraft in the RAF and later on flying them and now the magic has gone. I dont get the 'buzz of wonder' that I did get years ago and I miss that.
Lotus could be a risky option, with the cutting of 350 jobs in the past month(?). What do you want to do? What did you get at Uni? I question the point of a degree now, I understand if its medical or science but if someone comes to me for a job then I always look at their experience, followed by a quick glance at their education.
Where do you live in the country? Would you move for a good job? Be ready to take a crap position, in order to get a foot in a door.
For example;
A mate of mine left the RAF as an Engineer, good qualifications and he was a 'leader of men' so to speak. He went to work for an Aircraft overhaul company working on Ryanair aircraft, not the best job in the work as he had his fair share of 'hand down the toilet' moments (yes they do have to do that). Anyway he got his foot in the door, made sure he got his name about and made sure he spoke to the right people and 2 years later he is Cheif Engineer at easyJet, not bad me thinks?
So chin up mate, dont take any crap job that comes along and dont get walked over.
