Biggest difference is that the Rover ECU (MEMS) as used on the S1 elise is an Euro-2 compliant ECU and the Lotus K4 ECU on the S2 Elise is an Euro-3 compliant ECU with OBD.

These are not really comparable and also not wire-compatiblem.

The closest 'match' between the Rover MEMS and the K4 would be the latest ECD3 MEMS used in the MG-TF, which has similar functionality and uses mostly the same type of sensors.

The K4 is actually an OEM'ed ECU built by EFi technologies and based on their programmable ECU's. The K4 ECU is re-programmable, but AFAIK no longer with EFi tools but only with the Lotus Scan-Tool-II.

Bye, Arno.
