Pleas help me!!! I've misplaced my owners manual and now thw the alarm is playing up!

Basically, there is this constant beeping noise and the key fob is having no effect at all.

Also the alarm light on the dash isn't lit up, if any is online and knows what's up I'll be forever in your debt.

I thought it might be the fob battery but the little red light on the fob comes on when you press the big button.

In truth I haven't got a clue.

I've found the manual (hooray), but it's not helped me sort out whats wrong (boo).

The constant beeping has changed tone slightly, and I've tried to follow the key resetting procedure as closely as possible but still no luck.

the alarm light has not lit up at all since the problem started and I find that odd.

If anyone has any idea what to do or even a telephone number for a guy or garage that might be able to sort this out I'd be grateful.

I would try the fob battery all the same. Mine ran out a couple of weeks ago but there was still enough power to light the led on the fob.

The fact it has changed tone ever so slightly is prolly because the battery is going flat! According to the service manual (not hte little book) the Cobra Technical Helpline is 01923 479206 - this manual is probably about 5 years old mind!

I appreciate you guys' posting back.

The cobra line is a waste of time for anybody out there by the way.

In the end I got the RAC out and their bloke by sheer luck had seen the exact same thing and as you said, it was a flat battery.

I couldn't believe it when he told me, but at least I now for next time.

Footnote: I called a well known Lotus Dealer based in Horsely, and the switchboard lady told me she'd leave a message for someone to call me and try and help, two hours went by, and when I called back the offices were shut! Nice way to treat people who spend money having services done at your garage.

I can relate to your experience of the unnamed Horsely dealer Bell & Colvill. Tried getting some parts for my Elise and following 6 telephone calls over a week I've given up.

Phoned the Worthing dealer this morning and got through straight away - parts are being despatched in this evening's post.

I had the same a few weeks ago. My battery was flat from waiting for a nice day (again) and I had it on a trickle charger and while I was 'fiddling' I switched on the side lights..constant noise I couldn't stop. In the end I took off the trickle charge completely and then reconnected it. Cleared. Obviously something to do with flat batteries.
