Slippy Slidey!!!!!!!
Discussion
This is my first winter with my lotus.I,ve just had a new set of re040s put on (500 miles ago) but the car seems to be all over the place at the moment, it stuck like shi*****t to a blanket with my old worn reo40s on but i've lost confidence @ the moment. Is this just the roads as i would have thought that the tyres were worn in by now! Had my allignment checked and adjusted @ Maidstone sports cars when i'd had them fitted but they said it wasn't very far out!Anyone else having the same problems or any advice please?

must admit that the roads do seem a bit greasy at the moment, even though there has been no rain
had a few slidy understeer moments on roundabouts recently
funnily enough just read this is the general consensus on the other forum

I know it sounds like stating the obvious, but it's worth checking the tyre pressures, as that can make a hell of a difference... It did to mine anyway

Depending on who you talk to and which tyres you're running the generally accepted method is...
23psi front
27psi rear
..which IIRC is what the manual recommends.
HOWEVER... bogie recommended dropping to 22 front and 26 rear which I did and it was a much better choice in the summer (tyres get hot, pressure goes up, balance improves).
At the moment though the roads are slippy as hell and it won't take much to get the car to bite you on the ass, and bite you hard it will if you're not paying attention.
See previous threads from doug ward for a fair warning if you've not seen already... writing one off (especially coming off roundabouts) is a common occurrence at this time of year. Very easy to get sideways if you're not progressive and careful with getting the power down, not easy to pull it back when push comes to shove.
Take it easy dudes!
