Hi all!

I'm currently looking after a mate's 98 S1 Elise and while I've got it, he's asked me to have a look at a few bits that need attention. I've completed most of them, apart from one.

The headlights, particularly the nearside one, are not exactly securely mounted, by which I mean they point at the road about 4ft in front of the car and the beams jump about all over the place over bumps.

I've had a look, and it would appear that the headlight is only secured by it's right hand side (as you stand in front of the car). Looking at the mounting bracket (or what I can see of it) on the other side, it looks rusty as hell.

The obvious answer is to take the light unit out completely so I can have a look and see what's up, but without a manual, I'm reluctant to start dismantling it. I'm not a mechanical numpty, but I've never worked on an Elise before.

Anyone come across this before or have any hints or tips?

Cheers in advance

The metal mounting brackets for the headlamps are bonded onto the inside of the clam, and they corrode and fall off . . . remove, clear back to bare metal (anglegrinder) then re-bond using something suitable (eg. tigerseal)
