I've somehow managed to acquire a crack in my windscreen, and tha twas before I touched any brussel sprouts. It's on the lower offside, around 3 inches long - shouldn't be an MOT failure but should I think about getting it replaced?

If it's around 3 inches it will be an MOT failure...

A zone (front of driver) 10mm max
B&C zones 40mm max

Depends on the tester though...

Get it fixed Trunkie as quick as you can. The windscreen holds most of the strength in the event of a roll over.

Had mine done this year when I had an off at Anglesey. Left it alone but it did get worse to the point where it had managed to get half way across the bottom of the baulk head.

not exactly true, while in some cases the winscreen frame may retain intact, most of the stress will be borne by the roll-over bar behind your head (although i don't think this, in it's production form, is up to race standards).

however, would agree it's best to get it sorted before it grows in the frosty weather.

Check your insurance policy I reckon - might not be as painful as you think. Quite a few policies have windscreen replacement as a £50 xs with no effect on NCP I think.

Hope that helps.
