Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 340R and would like some advice. I've recently sold my S1 Elise and am looking for something a little faster.

What are they like on the open road and around town are speed ramps a real problem?

I'm looking to buy privately not from a dealer where's the best place to look?

Two cars in the private sales - www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?p=1&s=19

Top car to drive on track and excellent on the road but not as practical as an Exige or Elise!

and if i remember correctly, replacing a battery requires removing the whole bodyshell.
have a look at old evo's they ran a 340r for a bit. huge bills for silly stuff.

Hi

Right lets see if I can answer some of your questions

OK speed bumbs are no issue for me in the 340, just make sure you take them slowly.

I had a S1 111s before my 340R and the 340R just feels better all around.

I know of the owner of the following car

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/detail.asp?i=28816&s=19http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/detail.asp?i=28816&s=19

He is a guy called Pley over at www.seloc.org. Sign up there and come over and ask about the car, I think a number if Seloc members know of his car. As far as I have heard it is a good one.

Also have a look for the 340R Owners group on Yahoo, there are a lot of good guys over there.

Yes it is true about the battery so make sure that any car you buy has either been on a trickle charger or has had the battery done

Any more just ask

look for a car with the 190BHP upgrade and preferably a Emerald ECU. The VHPD engine is hardly driveable without. Bad ideling and little power below 5000 rpm.

Mine is a totally standard 177 bhp with standard ECU and I have found it fine to drive. It is not the best in traffic but not a problem.

Ideling is fine.

maybe the one I had for a testdrive wasn´t set up right...

it didn´t feel more powerful below 5000 than my standard S2.

RUBBISH.

The VHPD is largely fine as it's not running a plenum and a single TB like the upgraded elises etc.. The sport 160 type problems just don't happen on the 340R - mine runs fine just as Bens does and I haven;t even fitted verniers and accurately timed the cams yet. And I have plenty of ooomph below 5k rpm thankyou.

Go for it.

The 340R is one special car. Just be aware that you can't drive it as much as the regular Elise.

Hi Brooksy,

Yes my car is up FS.

www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=19

Immaculate with the race battery (removable with body on). FLSH lots of extra oil changes. Must be one of the best in the country.

Drop me a line if you are interested or want to know more on the cars (email/phone on advert).

All the best,
Paul

If you start looking you want to check that any car you buy has the Cambelt changed, they were all due to have it done last year
