Mornin all,

Some info if anyone knows please...

I'm looking to replace the springs and dampers on my Mk1 Elise and was considering my options. Whilst I'm primarily changing coz the old bits just feel a bit tired, I'd like to upgrade so Nitrons or the LSS kit is what I'd really like but costs are gonna rule those out I think. So I was looking at putting the Mk2 dampers and springs on. Anyone done this yet and what were the results? I believe it lowers the ride-height slightly (5 or 10mm I think) Did you have to change the camber/track settings and if so, to what?

Thanks guys!

Not personally but I've heard plenty of people who have. I'm sure if you have a dig around searching the forums and post on SELOC you'll get plenty of info.

IIRC the S2 option is a good one and improves ride and handling whilst being a little more compliant than Nitrons or LSS.

Fitting the S2 springs and dampers is definitely worth doing. The chap to contact is Steve Butts (sb@sophos.com) who'll sell them to you for £450 ish all set up to bolt on. He has a recommended geometry set up and is very helpful.

Nitrons seem to be the best, but very expensive. I think the LSS is adjustable so probably better for circuits than S2 units.
I upgraded to S2 suspension about a year ago and am generally pleased with it. The car rides harder (remember the S2 is heavier so in a lighter S1 the result is firmer) but not too much. Everyone says it's as firm as LSS.
I'd watch out for the suggested ride heights though - some people set the car on the S2 suspension very low. My car got lower with this mod and I aquired an unwelcome dose of tramlining and bumpsteer as a result (I have been advised to raise the steering rack to fix this but have not got round to it as yet).
Advantages? - Quieter (not quiet), less baggy (my Koni's were shagged), more predicatble handling (ditto), afforable and easy to fit yourself
Disadvantages? - See above.
Worth it? If your koni's are fine then no, if you just use the car on the road and don't go nuts then probably not (buy some cheaper konis), but otherwise yes.

I have an early s1 and I think my shocks are getting a bit tired as well.

Thinking of replacing them but not sure what with yet or how much I am gonna spend as I want a new exhaust as well.
