What brand/condition are the tyres in?
Are you going to have it checked by a specialist?
Edited to add:
Also if this is Norfolk Mustard, chances are it's an official upgrade. Check the paperwork. Original 135's came in Quicksilver.
www.elises.co.uk/models/sport135/index.html for full details.
Mustard will be best placed to tell you what sort of premium you're looking at over a similar condition standard car. £500-1k perhaps?

You are probably aware that it is not a Sport 135 (which only came in Quicksilver) but a standard car with a 135 upgrade and should be valued accordingly.
Check head gasket and no contamination in the oil etc. - best to take someone who knows what to look for.

updated my post with this info above.update: drove car yesterday.
drives perfectly, P-Zeros all round (about 90% left on all) aluminium brakes, plenty of pad left, full Lotus service history. heater actually works!! (previous owner has modified it) no signs of coolant, engine looked fine- not steam cleaned or anything suspicious.
of course it was sleet and heavy rain when i drove it, but it felt fine. a couple of drops of water from front corners of roof but at 80 in the sleet i'd expect that.
there is a tear on the right hand edge of the driver's seat. (just on the bit that would catch as you get in) is this expensive to repair? (bargaining tool)
thanks

Lotus will recover seats for a couple of hundred quid - to your spec. Have a look on hanger111.com - they have exact prices in their retrimming section.
Sounds a nice one. One minor point - dealers have told me in the past that green and yellow cars are hard to sell as the colours arent popular. Might just be because I was buying/in a gunmetal one, but might be something in it.

cheers max, will have a look at their site. i think it's just the side bolster bit that needs done.
the car is nice, but he's selling it as a 135 Sport. it's a standard car with the 135 bits (confirmed by a call to lotus) so he'll have to come down in price a wee bit.
i do like it in orange, it looks the part. reckon if you're going to have a head turning car, it might as well be a head turning colour! (tho i do like titanium colour)

Seat recover is around the £250 mark IIRC. Don't know if they'd be able to do a partial, but with the inconvenience and hassle I'd want at least £100 for that.
As for the tyres, trust me, P Zeros are not great. I would be looking to swap them soonest and that will chin you for around £500 when balanced and fitted.
It's clearly not an S135 so doesn't have the bits which make it worth as much IMvHO. Bargain accordingly.
FWIW, I used to wonder why people bought Elises in Yellow - since I've owned one I've changed my mind completely. I think they look absolutely brilliant, especially with black armorfend and Lotus Sport decals.

i thought the P-zeros were fine last night even when it was poring with rain and with a lot of standing water but sure a couple of track days/hillclimbs would put paid to them soon enough though!
if i buy the car, i'll keep them until their worn- i don't really want to change them if there's still life in them. plus, seeing the car would be new to me, i wouldn't be leaning on it too hard.
yes, i think it needs to be a wee bit cheaper as it's not a true 135. if he doesn't play ball i'll just walk away- not paying over the odds for it.
the seat isn't a major deal to me but it WILL be a major deal to me when it comes to haggling!

I'd want the cam belt done by now definitely. It's not about the miles - it's the years as the rubber perishes regardless of use. like s-works says 4 years so it is overdue.
I agree about the P-Zeros, really not a bad tyre and not worth changing if they have lots of wear in them. Sure there are better tyres now (advans, toyos etc), but have some fun in the dry with the P0s before you swap. Trouble is, it take so long to wear the damn things out - specially on the fronts!
BTW is it one of the yellows or is it the best colour in the world, chrome orange (not like I am biased of course!).
Have fun and try and squeeze a cam belt change out of the deal!
